Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

CareMonitor is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in alignment with UK Government policy and Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21.

We are focused on achieving absolute emissions reductions across Scope 1, 2 and 3, with offsetting used only for residual emissions that cannot be eliminated.

Emissions Reduction Targets

CareMonitor has defined the following science-aligned targets:

  • By 2030:
    Reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 60% (from FY2023 baseline)

  • By 2035:
    Reduce total emissions (including Scope 3) by 50%

  • By 2040:
    Reduce total emissions by 75%

  • By 2050:
    Achieve Net Zero emissions

Energy and Facilities

  • Transition to 100% renewable electricity contracts for all offices

  • Further reduction in physical office footprint

Cloud and Digital Infrastructure

  • Partner with low-carbon cloud providers committed to Net Zero

  • Implement workload optimisation to reduce compute usage

  • Monitor emissions intensity per customer or transaction

Travel and Transport

  • Introduce a low-carbon travel policy prioritising rail over air

  • Encourage electric vehicle use through staff incentives

  • Offset unavoidable business travel (short term measure only)

Supply Chain Engagement

  • Require key suppliers to:

    • Measure and report emissions

    • Commit to Net Zero targets

  • Introduce sustainability weighting in procurement decisions

Employee Engagement

  • Carbon awareness training

  • Incentives for sustainable commuting

  • Work-from-home support to minimise travel emissions

Residual Emissions and Offsetting

Once maximum feasible reductions are achieved, CareMonitor will neutralise remaining emissions using high-quality verified offsets, prioritising:

  • Nature-based solutions such as reforestation

  • Carbon removal initiatives over avoidance where available

Accepted standards include:

  • Gold Standard

  • Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)

Governance and Accountability

  • Oversight by Executive Leadership Team

  • A designated Sustainability Lead responsible for delivery

  • Quarterly internal tracking of emissions performance

  • Annual review of targets and progress

Reporting and Transparency

CareMonitor commits to:

  • Publishing this Carbon Reduction Plan annually

  • Maintaining data aligned with:

    • GHG Protocol Corporate Standard

    • UK Government emissions factors

  • Supporting customer and public sector reporting requirements

Declaration and Sign-Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance.

Emissions have been reported and recorded in line with:

  • GHG Reporting Protocol Corporate Standard

  • UK Government environmental reporting guidelines
